On the way to drop off the kids at home I shared the Journey Orange offering with a homeless man sitting on the ground over by Starbucks coffee he was so happy when given the Journey flyer & envelope. We shared with him how much he is loved & that Jesus loves him So very much! He gave me a super huge hug and said he will see us at church! I let him know that it was a gift from God. I felt in my heart that this is who I was to give the money too, I was praying about it when I saw him actually, Drove past him again to go home and felt the need to turn the car around. Jesus wanted this man to have the offering! :) Thanks to everyone in the Church Jesus blessed someone special today! - LorrieOn the way to drop off the kids at home I shared the Journey Orange offering with a homeless man sitting on the ground over by star bucks coffee he was so happy when given the journey flyer & envelope we shared with him how much he is loved & that Jesus loves him So very much! On the way home I stopped for gas & a car wash (no, none of my ORANGE OFFERING went for that!). To my great surprise as the car reached the end of the wash machine there was an older man (in the station’s uniform) with a drying cloth In each hand and he quickly wiped down my car. Knowing these attendants get minimum wage, I gave him a bill and told him it was a gift from Jesus. He thanked me and said, “I’ll share it with the other guys.”

Steve and I used our orange offering by giving it to 3 different homeless, we gave them a flier, and told them all about Journey, and how loving the atmosphere is, and that they'll never be judged! They all three couples said they'd see us sunday! I really hope we do! - Caitlin
Orange – Such a great color!
My story started with a shopping trip to get some goodies for the Taste of Journey. On the way into the store I was thinking, “I don’t have an Orange Story yet”. I was waiting for God to give me a “Sign I guess”. When I was checking out with my goodies the checker didn’t know the code for the bulk peanuts I wanted to buy. He sent someone back to look which seemed like FOREVER but I waited quietly grumbling to myself that I had places to go!
Once we got that all figured out I started walking out the doors of the store, when right in front of my cart passed this older lady that I had seen many, many times before collecting cans by the Grocery Outlet. I immediately knew what my Orange offering was for. I chased her down… literally and said “Um excuse me, are you the lady I see collecting cans by the Grocery Outlet?” She smiled and said yes. I said I want to share something with you!
I explained to her what our little church was trying to do with this Orange offering. I handed her the envelope and said Journey Church and God would love for you to have this. She paused for a few seconds and said “What church did you say?” I told her Journey, she then got a huge smile and told me that 2 younger kids that she had seen living on the street had stopped her yesterday (Sunday) and invited her to Journey by giving her some money and a postcard from the church.
We talked for a minute more I found out her name is Darcy. I told her that she is ALWAYS welcome at Journey and we would love to have her. She grabbed my arm and thanked God for my loving heart!
I was in tears as I turned to walk back to my truck. I was thanking God for showing his love through me. I was also humbled by the thought of the young kids that had given her money as well because I knew that they were also living on the street and I just assumed that they would have kept the money. God has shown me that no matter where you are or who you are he can use you to spread his Grace and Love!

We were in Home Depot looking at door knobs and a (probably homeless) man asked us for $0.50. He then said never mind when we did not respond right away. I told Paul that I had the $ from the church in my pocket and he took $5.00 and followed after the man. When he got to him he told him that he did not have $0.50, but he had $5.00. The man immediately looked up and said "Thank you father". Gave Paul knuckles and was extremely grateful. - Paul and Meghan
She decided to give it out to 2 people in the grocery store, just as she got it, $15 and $20. She gave the $20.00 to a woman with a young daughter and asked her to do one thing. Think about some one you need to forgive and give it some serious thought to do so. The woman said "how did you know...my husband". She then hugged my mom and was super thankful. - Laura
I was Christmas shopping this afternoon downtown, and walked by 3 girls sitting on the sidewalk with a cardboard sign. Not paying much attention, I walked on by. I see that all the time downtown. About 10 steps later, I did a double take - and walked back to the three girls. The sign said "house burned down" anything helps. They said they were just looking to get a hotel room for tonight. I immediately thought about the orange offering I had in my wallet. I asked her if she knew anyone she needed to forgive. Just think about it. She said she would as I handed her $40. I hope it's legit, only God knows for sure, but something made me stop in my tracks and turn around this time. HS? Could be. Anyway... they just got oranged!! - Steve
This is how I used my Orange Offering: I spent $10.00 on a sack of groceries at Safeway for the Community Food Bank. I spent $18.00 for two gifts for the Redmond toy and food drive. That left me with $7.00, which I gave to the Salvation Army at one of their locations here in Redmond. - Robert
Every year the NICU at st Charles Hospital picks a family in need who had a premature infant cared for on our unit. This year we chose a family who has major financial struggles as well as a new baby with serious, chronic health problems. The 3 of us put our money together and bought the dad a winter jacket for work, the mom some winter boots, the baby some winter clothes, and the whole family some pans to cook with. Once we had all the items we took them to the "free" wrapping clinic by Macys. The ladies there wrap gifts for donations, which this year go to an Equestrian group to care for sick horses. We gave the rest of our money to them and in return they gave us a box, wrapping paper, bows, and tape to wrap our gifts! We truly had a great time shopping! Thank you for giving us a gift to give to others! Best idea I've ever heard of!! - Michelle, Erik, & Leah
I have known this family for about 3 years. The mom works for Saving Grace, a business that helps battered women. She has never told me anything about herself or her life or her family. She is very much to herself. I had her daughter spend the night a couple of weeks ago, just one of the twins. It was a Saturday and the most exciting thing she was looking forward to was to go to church to hear me sing. She needed to know that she was going to be able to sit and hear me sing. She tells her mom that I am a beautiful singer and piano player. And so she came, went home and told her mom all about it. The very next Saturday, she needed a babysitter but had no money to pay, I told her I needed the girls to stay the night so that Ally could feel better about not being in school anymore. She said okay, but you don't have to take them to church, they will probably be too much. She was so concerned about them being a burden. Both the girls went to church with us. She says she didn't grow up going to church, doesn't really know what to do. Her husband just got laid off and now she is having surgery. GOD carries me, lives in me, love me and accepts the good and bad of me. She doesn't know GOD!
The girls and I made a card, walked it over to their house, right around the corner. I told her what our church had done and what you had decided to do with the offering. She knows we have no money ... she knows we are losing our house ... she knows our daily pain ... and yet she saw us giving to her and her family ... her eyes filled with tears and as they fell down her cheeks she ASKED if she could give me a hug! I really don’t think she has ever experienced this true love before. I told her that we love them and we wanted to do something special for them with the money. We gave it all to them. It was $95 total. Her girls hugged me and my girls and then we left.
The truth is, I feel like I am the one who is blessed, an overwhelming undeserved blessing of love from my Father - who saw what was going to be in my future - mourned for this long ago and knew that on that day, Sunday, I would realize that I have JESUS, or rather HE has me, so why not use me to represent HIM and who HE is.
I don’t know how the surgery will go. I don’t know the end result, not her future or mine, but I do know that I have Christ and He died for not just me ... or my kids, but for Brad and this family as well. And I do know that HE wants me and my kids to represent HIM to the fullest.
